EDIT: It appears this AI feature is currently only available for paid accounts to opt-in to use, and even then it is still only a free trial. So it seems like a massive issue is being made about something that is still only available to a small portion of their userbase.

Important information for the Closing Credits community:
This is directly relating to the Zoom product originally called Zoom IQ for Sales (May 16, 2023) and the recent changes made to the Zoom Terms of Service (TOS) regarding what they call “Customer Content”.
Specifically addressing the concerns and misunderstandings that have been spreading like wildfire across the web and social media, Zoom published the blog post titled, “How Zoom’s terms of service and practices apply to AI features” (Aug 7, 2023) wherein they explicitly state:
We’ve updated our terms of service (in section 10.4) to further confirm that we will not use audio, video, or chat customer content to train our artificial intelligence models without your consent.
This firstly confirms that their AI features are opt-in, rather than opt-out, by default—giving account owners and administrators control over whether to enable and use these features or not.
Further down that same blog post they state:
We recently introduced two powerful generative AI features – Zoom IQ Meeting Summary and Zoom IQ Team Chat Compose – on a free trial basis to enhance your Zoom experience. These features offer automated meeting summaries and AI-powered chat composition. Zoom account owners and administrators control whether to enable these AI features for their accounts.
In summary
- Zoom is not and will not be using the audio, video, or chat ‘customer content’ from ANY account (free or paid) without the consent of the account owner;
- Account owners and administrators can opt-in by using the Zoom IQ services in their meetings, but will need to turn these features on in their account settings first;
- Closing Credits accounts do not—and will not—have these features turned on for any purpose, and we will insist that our instructors refrain from using these features in any way should they be using their personal accounts during the course of running classes or events;
